Many users of iPhone / touch administering or write blogs running Wordpress not made aware of the new Wordpress 2, launched last week, because it is a separate app from the old. Thus, it will not appear in the gallery updates in iTunes. But an application is highly recommended!
Despite the previous Wordpress on the iPhone, I pretty much only used to moderate comments. In fact, it's wonderful to do this so quickly and conveniently. Until recently I was using MovableType and had to manage comments "by hand. Today, I devote my mornings to write and blogging (since you do not have a homecare service early), since the time of day when my mind is fresher, and I get the rest free for other activities. Between one place or another, track and respond to blog comments on the iPhone itself.
But writing posts was a nightmare. The few times I did that I lost posts or portions of them because the application did not work so well offline or in connection oscillations. Worse was to be typing and suddenly receive a call. All the work was pro bag! In Wordpress 2, while leaving the program and then resume it, you go straight to the point where it stopped.
In addition to the repair of numerous bugs, the interface also won a revamped, especially the comments, which now shows the neckties and links the commentator. It is also easier to switch between comments, posts and pages. And developers are preparing new tools for the next updates, like being able to respond directly to comments and push notifications. Wow
Wordpress on other devices
Beyond the iPhone, there is an official version of Wordpress for BlackBerry, available for download at the online store. Although we have versions for other platforms, there are great solutions developed by third parties:
wpToGo (Android) - free application available at the online store, is a versatile and functional app that allows you to manage simultaneously several blogs running Wordpress. You can do advanced issues such as fonts and upload photos, view previews and select categories. It also allows you to manage comments.
PocketSharp MT and moBlog (Windows Mobile) - was a long time user of PocketSharp MT, and posted a lot on the blog, for years, while I was using MovableType. Today, both he and the moBlog support various platforms other than Wordpress, as TypePad, Blogger / Blogspot and LiveJournal. However, they are more focused and elaboration of posts, including drafts and comments, working very well offline. There is no management comments. Both are free.
Wordmobi (Symbian) - open-source project developed by Brazilian Marcelo Barros de Almeida, is an application that lets you navigate between posts, comments, tags and categories. You can edit and publish posts, entitled to a preview page, and moderate comments. It is the application you use today to advance my sketches when I have the opportunity. With the bluetooth keyboard, I am comfortable to type long texts and even whole posts.
Before installing the application itself, you must install Python pre-requisite to run the program. But you should pay attention and install the correct file, because there are several versions for the various versions of Symbian S60. Check which is compatible with your device.
The preview page is very interesting, but the editing bothers me a little. It is hard to see that letter tiny, white screen with a green source. I would like at least that one could choose a black background, the less tired the sight, and have the option of using sources other sizes. It is the suggestion to the developer!
